The rules of the sand, each with its authority
Four rule sets govern a beach day here. Flags from the South Walton Fire District decide swimming. Bonfires need a fire district permit. Dogs on the sand need a Walton County permit issued only to residents and property owners, so visiting dogs stay off. And beach driving happens only at Grayton and Inlet Beach under a resident-gated county lottery, never here. Access to this beach runs through the community's walkovers or the county's public accesses.

The flag system
Double red closes the water, single red is high hazard, yellow medium, purple dangerous marine life. The South Walton Fire District runs it; check before every swim.
Bonfire permits
Issued through the South Walton Fire District: 100 dollars (105 by card), holder 18 plus and present, under 30 people standard, container 4 feet max, ashes doused and removed.
Resident permits only
Walton County issues beach dog permits to residents and property owners only. A visiting dog has no legal path onto the sand, here or anywhere on 30A.
Not on this sand
County beach driving permits exist only for Grayton and Inlet Beach, resident-gated by lottery under the county's Beach Activities Ordinance. Rosemary sand stays vehicle-free.
Walkovers and public accesses
The community's dune walkovers serve its 2,500 feet of beach for residents and qualifying guests. Day visitors: use the county's public accesses, largest at Inlet Beach one town east.

Walkover use comes with staying in the community; pools and clubs ride booking programs. The written confirmation from your operator settles both before you pay.
